Create Field Guard for vTiger CRM

The standard Layout Editor in vTiger CRM gives you control over which fields appear on a form. But what if you want to hide a field specifically when creating a record, while it remains visible on the normal detail screen? And what if workflows still need to be able to auto-fill that field? vTiger offers no standard solution for this.

Create Field Guard fills exactly that gap.

The problem with the standard Layout Editor

The Layout Editor in vTiger has only two states for a field: visible or invisible. If you choose invisible (displaytype=2), the field disappears from all forms — create, edit and detail. Worse: workflows and external integrations can no longer auto-fill the field, causing automations to break.

You are then faced with an impossible choice: leave the field visible (cluttered forms) or disable the field entirely (no more automation).

Create Field Guard solves this by hiding the field only on the create form, while it remains visible on the detail screen.

Two modes for maximum flexibility

Hard Hide

Fully removed from forms

Changes the field to vTiger's displaytype=2. The field disappears from create and edit forms, but remains visible on the detail screen. Ideal for system fields that should not be manually filled in by anyone.

Soft Hide

Hidden but workflow-compatible

Visually hides the field on the create form with JavaScript, but keeps it present hidden in the form data. Workflows and external integrations can still auto-fill the field — without the user seeing it. On the detail screen the field is visible after saving.
